ISO

In the first photograph i choose to go with 50 ISO. It has bad lighting because with 50 ISO the camera lets light in at a slower rate which creates a darker image. With the second photo, I used 5000 ISO, and it had way more time to let more light in. The last photo I put the setting to auto flash. It kind of washed out all the other lights and just focused all the big bright flash that the camera gave.Friday, April 18, 2008
Light Metering

In the first picture I metered by focusing on Gustavo's skin. On the second picture I metered by focusing on the computer screen. The first picture came out awesome because I metered Gus's skin and the camera used that as the midtone. The second picture turned out dark because it used the bright screen of the camera as the midtone and made everything else dark.Wednesday, April 16, 2008
Metaphor

I chose the metaphor I did because it depicted how I really feel about my life in the current situation I am in. I was trying to express all my stress I have in my life at the end of this senior year. The mood I wanted to capture was the mood of disappointment.
I placed everything where I did so I could make this piece compositionally sound. I believe my focal area is very sound because the tornado has good contrast with the rest of the picture so it looks like the tornado just pops out. I think my picture is very balanced because it has a great emphasis and stuff around it to not make the picture boring. My image feels unified because I think all my additions fit together.
I think I did quite well on my composition because everything flows. The most difficult thing to do in this project was trying to figure out how to incorporate myself in this picture. I think I could have done better on making myself more into the tornado, rather than just pasting my face over it. I don’t want to change anything because if I do that, the picture might come out worse.

Movie Moment

Inspired by Cindy Sherman, a contemporary photographer who took photo's of herself starring in movies that never existed. The title of our movie was Untitled, and it is a horror/thriller movie. The movie is about an outcast girl who is always picked on by the popular cheerleader and her baseball playing boyfriend. One day the girl, named Samantha Manson, goes crazy and kills the popular cheerleader and sends a hitman to kill her boyfriend. The cheerleaders brother and a local cop try to catch the killer.

Balance and Frames

In this project we were given a frame.
We had to use it in our composition.
We also had to be in our photo, but not in the center.
It was to be in black and white, and we needed to create a sense of visual balance.
I created balance by making the side I wasn't on stick out a little bit more by making it darker with the frame on one picture and my own shadow on the other photo.
Random Object

We were each assigned a random object to photograph. We could choose to have it in color or black and white. We were to focus on "The Three C's"
According to my peers, one thing I did good at was be creative. They said my picture was more brilliant in black and white. One thing They suggested me to work on was to take the picture in a different setting. I don't agree with this suggestion because I like my creative imagination and I like to be origional and not typical.
Egg Challenge
In this project each student was given an egg to photograph. we were to take a photo in both color and black& white. we were supposed to exemplify one or more of the following: creativity, craftsmanship, or composition.
I think composition was one of the three c's that i did best at in this photo. I liked my black and white photo the most because I like how the contrast makes the egg pop out without getting to close.

My Favorite Project From Last Semester

This picture is a picture that we had to take telling about something that is the most influincial to us. So I took a picture of me standing in front of the dugout in a baseball field. This picture needed to be in black and white, so I put on my black Chavez baseball shirt and my black basketball shorts with a fairly light hat. Once the Sun's light hit my hat it reflected of like it was a mirror and glared ever so brightly. I liked this project more than all the rest of the projects because this activity let me show who i really was and let the viewer know not to be stereotypical like just judging a book by its cover. I think i did the best at portraying contrast in this picture and also using the rule of thirds.
